Game and Season
The Sapphire Mountains have abundant big game. The species available to hunt in our area are elk, mule and white tail deer, black bear, wolf and turkey. As anywhere, game patterns can vary with time of year, hunting pressure, weather and other variables. Hunter success depends on being able to have all the variables work in concert with your hunting skills to provide a successful shot opportunity.
Our hunting area includes 1,375 acres of private land. Additionally, hunters have access to thousands of acres of National Forest and state land. These areas are immediately adjacent to the ranch. Calf Creek Wildlife Management Area is specifically managed for wildlife habitat and is walk-in access only. The state land, shown in blue on the map below, is open to the public and is walk-in access only. We want to emphasize it is the hunters responsibility to know where they are at all times. We recommend the use of a hand held GPS device. There is an app "onXmaps" that is very helpful.
